The "Alaala" Series (translates to Memories in Tagalog)
On March 12, 1997, my family moved from the Philippines to the United States. I was only 9 years old at the time and although it was difficult for me, I was oblivious to how it would affect my entire life. Now as a young adult with an American point of view, I created this series in order to re-embrace my Filipino heritage and reinterpret my journey as a child.
This series was done by scanning in hand drawn images and collaging them with photographic elements. These were digitally composited in Adobe Photoshop.

A short comic series
This is a comic series about my earlier years of working as a janitor. These were hand drawn with graphite and by (happy) accident, spilled with tea. This was scanned into the computer and reworked with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Illustrations for
"They Provide the Paint for the Picture-Perfect Masterpiece That You Will Paint on the Insides of Your Eyelids" by Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution
This series is meant to illustrate the progression of a soldier, slowly awakening to the world around him. This illustration refers to the proverbial principle of the three wise monkeys, "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil," and is shown by the accessory being taken away from him. The series progresses from patriotic bright colors to a dark monochromatic scheme to show the deterioration of reality.
This series was created with pen/ink and gouache and scanned into Adobe Photoshop.
